Insomnia

Don't loosen my grip
on this sweet fiction
dont give reality's sip
to break this addiction

Let me float in wind
fly in deep thoughts
dont let this end
after all battles I fought

I deserve this sleep
after today's plight
let me sink in deep
fight me another night

Final Year

This poem is in response to a request made by a NUST friend of mine...

This here is a poem with rhyme
telling you of the NUST time,
with friends who became family
and will remain always with me
in my heart and thoughts
along with all the lessons taught
at NUST,

It’s not just a university of brick and stone
where people come and go alone,
it’s a clan of diverse cultures and personalities
whose life, adventures and memories
are etched on the very roads and buildings
they saw in the making
when they first set foot,

My time here was the same
met many people once I came,
Hostel, Campus, Seminar halls, and Play Grounds
joy had no time, place, and bounds
except nine to five in the classroom
where we dreaded our possible doom,
but survived,

Teachers, lab assistants, friends new and old
everyone dear to heart I hold,
but there is a start and end for every journey
and the beginning of the end came for me
when we all stood together for batch photograph,
I hope for less tears and more laughs
Once we depart and have only
memories and pictures to look back at.

awaited prize

Once again a poem from my collection of 6 months ago, I hope you enjoy the read :)

The yellow Star
as its spotlight
water dances
a fervent tango,

he battles
piercing through its pace
he waits, and waits more

at a corner by the current
like a tiger for his prey
ever ready,

drumming of the waves
penetrate his eardrums,
music at a distance
people dance to it
a celebration
he is not bothered,

sun-rays reflect
a magma ball
he doesn't flinch,

at the slightest nibble
he pulls with might
and sees the salsa
of the fish.

under dancing petals

This is a poem I wrote a long time ago for my blog, but never had the time to publish it... it is probably the longest poem on my blog, so please bear with me.
oh, and one more thing as of this month, my blog is officially one year old :)

the sun bathed us
with flaming spears
as we stood soaked
in the knee high lake,

trees swayed joyously
clouds gathered air
crystal water blushed
as i held you in my arms.

but, you left my side
under cloak of darkness,
clouds fervently wept
heavens split and showed
your footprints in the mud,

now i sit in the dark
on the battered floor
where we once danced,
as the cold wind
stabs my tearful heart,

lake now a crystal
devoid of sparkle,
the sun hides itself
behind grey hair,
pearls nesting my love
turn to diamonds

as white petals tango
their way to cold earth
i see a shadow
tear through the mist,

you make your way
into my warm embrace
eyes melt, yours and mine,
my hands interlock
never to let go again,

i love the snow
for it returned
my warmth.

Only Sweetness...

Something I came up on a whim...

I wish to tear my heart out
and show to you
the consequence of love,

eyes grow crimson
ready to burst blood
retracing your steps

if only i could gather
these tears, and bottle
them up for you to drink,

but i cant, Thank God,
because you will find
only sweetness.

Summer Hostel

A little poem from my days in the hostel during the sweltering month of May...

dead echoes of the night
still linger in empty halls,
my skin aflame under the fan
but mind in cool mountains
of Murree, where hand in hand
we heard our shouts fly back
as white petals danced down
on smiling faces,

Art of Blood

the moon peeks shyly
as you unsheathe your pride,
Sakura* rains on you
as you cut through them
with your Katana*,

such a magnificent dance
of the sword you display,
it sings with each swing,
your twin tails sway
like after images of your weapon,

mountains hide
unable to bear the irony,
a beauty practicing
the art of blood
under the clear heavens.

*Sakura are cherry blossoms.
*Katana is a japanese style sword.

Materialistic Affair

I want the devotion
inside of me
to end this desire
and break me free
of these shackles
which bind me
in a trammel
of worldly lust,

I want my fidelity
to end this avidity
eating the insides of me.
This I can no longer bare,
May God induce in me
the passion, strength and venture,
to break free
of this materialistic affair.

With My Paper Wings

kissing the heavens
with my paper wings
i wish to cut deep
into the heart and soul
with my ink talons,

the tale of the child
quivering under crystal bullets
and shedding his pearls
over the edifice, which
became his beloveds' grave,

if only these talons
could injure the death birds
of the 21st century,
if only his tears i could return,
return him as diamonds.

Breakup

glass torpedoes pierced my heart
as the crystal shrine of my love
kissed the cold earth

shards pinned my abode of hopes
you walked away stabbing
walls bled with sorrow,

I was static as my spirit burned
like ash my emotions flew
leaving behind a hollow shell.

Time My Foe

Nothing can ruin
this moment
Between you and me
only
these passing seconds
stand a hindrance
to everlasting enjoyment,

this fourth dimension
of reality
is the wall
separating us
and eternal happiness,

I want to keep
holding your hand
but i know
these ticking clocks
keep us in trammel
a stranglehold,

we will wither
become dust
and be one
with the earth,

if only
we could live
in the fifth dimension
far away
from time's grasp...

Troubled Mind

My First Try at Free Verse...

The scent of dirt emanating
from the moistened land.
I stand in wait
under drops of sorrow
hoping for an epiphany
to settle my doubts
and clear my mind.
Calm like the moistened land
on which I stand,
drenched in despair.

Itachi and Sasuke

First of all I would like to comment that the characters' names(Itachi and Sasuke) used in this poem are from the popular anime Naruto, and I do not own Naruto(neither whole nor part of it). This poem is purely fan made. A fan made tribute to Itachi and Sasuke.

Itachi and Sasuke

Sasuke, hate me detest me
or
once more you shall see
the
blood covered floor of your family,

Sasuke, resent me despise me more
walk
you shall through darkness' door
like me
When I marched over that blood coated floor,

Sasuke, that blood was of our clan
do
What you best can
run
hide yourself or make a stand,

But not like this, you are weak
your
chances of winning are exceedingly bleak
become
stronger to achieve what you seek,

So do not show me those eyes till then,
into
the sea of hatred you must dive in
only
there you will find the power for your revenge,

and I shall have what within you lies
my
most cherished prize
your
scarlet sharingan eyes.

In Despair...

In Despair

I watch the world in despair,
Nothing good being done,
Chaos stopped by no one,
To bring the light out of darkness,

I watch the world in despair,
Rivers of blood flow,
Nowhere peaceful to go,
To break free of this hopelessness,

I watch the world in despair,
Explosions occur left and right,
Innocents struggle, a losing fight,
To change this state of distress,

I watch the world in despair,
As people kill their own,
They prefer staying alone,
Submerged in selfish happiness,

I watch the world in despair,
The sinless are imprisoned,
People of color shunned,
To live a life of sadness,

I watch the world in despair,
Waiting for change in state,
Let it be, before its too late,
To pull us out of this abyss,

I watch the world in despair... ,

Small Explanation - "In Despair" describes the emotion of a person torn apart by worrying for the world. In this world there are many nations, and each have their own problems, some places people of color are shunned(out-casted), while in other places mass murders occur, and if problems of large scale were not enough, the person also worries about the general vices a person faces like betrayal, injustice, murder(for wealth), etc.

It is a fact that the world as a whole is definitely going downhill. He feels there is no place where peace exists ("nowhere peaceful to go"). All the person can do is helplessly watch the world in despair.

Not One More Tear

Not One More Tear Copyright of Arslan Poetry Blog

Not one more tear,
From you, can i bear,

You dont share the pain, why?,
It breaks me, to see you cry,

Alone, why must you walk this dark road?,
Let me be your light, and share the load,

Tell me, what is making your heart bleed?,
I desire to be the pillar you need,

To lift you up away from this darkness,
To a place of bliss and happiness,

Do not feel so distressed and broken,
Felicity's door for you I shall open,

So please!, take my hand,
Alone, you need not stand,

Because, I shall always be here for thee,
Fight for you I shall, even the "Shinigami!",

P.S Shinigami means "The Grim Reaper ...aka God of Death"

Small Explanation -  "Not One More Tear" describes a scenario where a person feels bad because his friend/lover(whichever you may like to comprehend) is not open to him/her. He/she want him/her to be more open to him....

Between You and Me (Arslan Poetry Blog)

Between You and Me Copyright of Arslan Poetry Blog.

If beauty is a shining star,
Then you are its light,
Which shines bright,
In my dark night,

You make my day,
You brighten my night,
You are the sunshine,
Making my world bright,

You make my world green,
When you are close to me,
The most elegant being,
Was our meeting meant to be?,

I think yes, because time froze,
When I set my eyes upon thee,
That meeting, God surely chose,
Between you and me...,

Small Explanation-   In this poem "Between You and Me" I try to enumerate the feelings of a person towards his/her most beloved person. He/She state all the positive things which have been brought to his/her life by their meeting.

The first two lines were picked from the poem My Shining Star written by yours truly(Arslan).
P.S - I could not find a suitable picture so I went with a animated photo.

My Little Box (Arslan Poetry Blog)

Copyright of Arslan Poetry Blog

A small box of secrets,
You are future's light,
Dim right now,
But tomorrow bright,

I gaze at you and ponder,
Untold many things you hold,
What will you become,
Smart, coward, or bold,

How fascinating you are,
Brought by my lady,
Beautiful like her,
You are my baby,

Small Explanation- In this poem, I try to describe the emotion, feelings, and thoughts a father goes through holding his new born for the first time in his arms. The Father wishes for his new born to grow and become a bright light(tomorrow bright).

P.S by "I" I do not mean me(ARSLAN)....
